uTorrent application in cydia!

Posted by iTekd on September 3, 2009 at 2:13 AM Comments comments (0)

Ok guys, dont get too exited, it isnt a full torrent client, you cant download photoshop to your iphone, i know i wish i could. But this application, called uMoniter, allows you to CONTROL uTorrent on your computer, from your iphone. So stoping downloads, pausing, seeding... It's all there. But unfortuanatly for the average iphone or ipod touch user, its not available. apple have regected the application for the app store. saying this;

"This category of applications is often used for the purpose of infringing third party rights. We have chosen to not publish this type of application to the App Store."

But for all you guys who have a jailbroken iphone or ipod touch, this news its actually quite good. The famous Cydia app store, obtained from jailbraking your iphone or ipod touch, has picked up the application, and published it in their store. Go grab it as i expect it is free, and enjoy the freedom of uTorrent!

iPod Shipments Discontinued

Posted by iTekd on September 1, 2009 at 5:51 AM Comments comments (1)

it has been rumored, coming close to the anticipated september refresh of the ipod lineup, that shipments of current model ipods have been discontinued. When apple was asked about the matter, this was their response;

"The current line of iPods is on its last legs, lending more evidence that an iPod refresh is just around the corner. Sources from Apple Authorized Resellers have confirmed to Ars that current stock is dwindling (if not completely gone in some cases) and that no more of the current models are coming in. Additionally, all current SKUs are being discontinued, with no word on when new models may arrive."

and with this, apple has anounced a keynote that will be taking place on wednesday september 9th. could all of this be just coincidence? i think not. apple is no doubt going to announce a new line of ipods, such as a new ipod touch, which is rumored to have an inbuilt camera and microphone, the same of which the iphone 3gs boasts, a new ipod nano, and a refresh of the ipod classic. only time will tell if my ussumptions are correct. stay tuned for further updates on the issue.

Sony Announces PS3 Slim, $300 USD

Posted by iTekd on August 25, 2009 at 6:14 AM Comments comments (0)

A new PS3,dubbed the 'PS3Slim' was officially announced by Sony on the 18th. The PS3 Slim will be32% smaller, 36% lighter, and will use about 34% less power than the original PS3 system. The console will go on sale in the first week of September, boasting a $300 USD price tag, which willbring the Xbox 360Vs PS3 war to a new battlefield. The new model will ship with a 120gbhard drive, compared to the previous 80gb PS3. It will still boast the same specs, a cell broadband 8 core CPU, an RSX GPU and the much loved HD Bluray player. instead of the glossy finish that the current model PS3 has, the PS3 Slim will have a nice black matte finish, so now you don't have to worry about getting fingerprints all over your brand new machine.

A side by side comparison of old and new model PS3

The new PS3 will have a feature that allows you to control the XMB with your Sony Bravia Remote, provided you are using a specially made HDMI cable, called 'Bravia Sync'. Also announced was the optional vertical stand, which will put you $24 USD out of pocket. And to all you Linux fanboys, Sony has ruled out installing another OS on their new PS3, sorry bout that guys. I think Sony has done a great job on this project, and wish them well for the future.

Today, while i was doing my usual youtube surfing, i came across this ad by Bell, for the Palm Pre.

I'm not sure what you think of when you see this, but my first thoughts are of the Apple iPhone ads. first the Palm Pre is able to sync with itunes, now they are completley copying apples ads. I think Palm wants to Apple alittle too much... Law suite?

Apple Tablet?

Posted by iTekd on August 25, 2009 at 3:49 AM Comments comments (0)

could any of these be the much rumored 'Apple Tablet'

me personally am not so sure, it could be any, or none of them. i expect the apple tablet, mac tablet, the maclet or whatever it is called to be announced around the time of the ipod touch 3g in september. i hope it doesnt run a variation of the iphone os, i would much rather a specifically tailored version of snow leopard.
